You run 'yum repolist' and yum reported properly that it cannot acces the repos - as obviously the system has no access via internet.
You can disable all repos in /etc/yum.repos.d/ and then rely on local repository or centralized system management solution like Uyuni/Spacewalk .

Any yum operation at all clears up that message about the database being modified outside of yum.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
