fips=1 and deprecated dracut

Post by ron7000 » 2019/09/24 21:56:17

reading CentOS 7.7 release notes at https://access.redhat.com/documentation ... ctionality

In that deprecation list is dracut-fips and dracut-fips-aesni

I was doing fips=1 such that /proc/sys/crypto/fips_enabled had a 1 in it.

what does this deprecation mean since to do fips those dracut guys needed to be installed?

I too would like to know this! I'm having trouble getting FIPS to work with Centos 7 and Kernel 4.9. I'm wondering if it is now deprecated and I should be using something else.
