Clunky multitasking

hi, i've been using centos 6.2-6.4 for a while. recently have been using centos 7 (mainly because of google chrome, otherwise i would still be using centos 6)

i've noticed that multitasking has been more clunky. stop and go UI interaction (the UI could freeze for like 3 seconds), stuttering video while i do some cpu intensive things like physics sims, compiling, etc

i never noticed centos 6 having issues as bad as centos7. i also noticed similar performance issues when i was testing on ubuntu 10 LTS.

any ideas?

I don't know the answer, but I think you will be more likely to get answers
if you say which desktop environment and GPU driver you're using.
