Sundry Users & groups over SSH non gui ?

Post by ron7000 » 2019/06/11 17:46:14

In using SLES prior to RHEL/CentOS, I would often SSH into my server and type "yast users" and that would give a text base interface to the user and group control panel, making it easier to add/remove/modify users and/or group accounts.

So far in RHEL/CentOS I only know vncserver and then if i remote in I can access the Applications menu - sundry - users & groups.
Is there an alternative if I only want to use Putty and SSH in to RHEL/CentOS to be able to work with user/group accounts?

There are cli tools: useradd, usermod, userdel, group{add, del, mod}, then there are utilities like getent for listing them.

You might want to look to see if cockpit does anything useful for you.
