Ovirt

Post by forum_ario » 2019/06/29 12:36:20

Hello

I'd like to build a cloud infrastructure.

However, I would like to know if I can handle hyper-v from ovirt. I explain:

I'd like to install on centos7 KVM.
I would like to install server windows 2012 or 2016 with the hyper-v role containing a machine xp.
Then I would like to install Ovirt on another centos.

Could I from ovirt join hyper-v in order to create a knot or that I can handle hyper-v from my centos7 ovirt machine?

Like basically, I would like to manage my hypervisor with ovirt.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

I am no oVirt expert but I am fairly sure that its hosts all need to be linux machines.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

All Virtualization Technologies require that the Hypervisor is the same.

You have 2 options:
1. Use a Cloud solution that can manage both KVM & Hyper-V. In such case VMs from oVirt won't be able to live migrate to Hyper-V or vise versa.
2. Create oVirt cluster and create a VM that will be your Hyper-V hypervisor. Ovirt & KVM support nested virtualization.

Merci pour ta réponse.

Non en fait, je ne veux pas qu'il fait de machine virtual sur ovirt! Je veux juste me servir de lui pour gérer hyper-v et kvm

Thank you for your response.

No actually, I don't want it to do virtual machine on ovirt! I just want to use him to handle hyper-v and kvm

I guess you need openstack (check the RDO project), as it can control multiple hypervisors - at least based on the answer here
