PCIE Bus Error

Post by Ovie » 2019/02/03 17:11:55

Hello, I'm trying to currently install Centos 7 on my machine. I made a Bootable Usb device and tried installing but, I get these error messages and I don't know how to solve them. I've tried adding "pci=nommconf" to my grub and still no resolution just hangs. I'm open to any suggestions on the matter please and thanks.

I would try pci=noaer first and if that does not work then try pci=nomsi.

If this is for the installer then it uses isolinux on non-UEFI systems and you need to press tab to see the kernel command line for the installer kernel and you can append the parameters there. If you're on a UEFI system then it uses grub2 so you need to hit 'e' to edit it, change it then ctrl-x to continue the boot.

If this is on a running system then you can do the same grub2 'e' trick on the current kernel without amending grub.cfg until you know it works.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Thank you, TrevorH for replying and offering a solution. Unfortunately for me, I'm still unable to install Centos 7. After entering the parameters pci=noaer or pci=nomsi I get a new error bellow and my system just hangs.

Interesting, I cannot find 1022:15d3 in pci device databases, but I guess this is AMD platform. Is this something very recent? If so - it may not be yet fully supported in CentOS.

And looking at it from different perspective - are you overclocking anything on that platform? If so - consider switching it off and checking again.

In addition to adding pci=noaer, I would also make sure that you remove 'rhgb quiet' from the kernel command line.

Thank you TrevorH for your support, but it seems that I actually made an error pre-installation. Instead of installing my using Win32 Disk imager software I used a different one, which cause errors. My Centos 7 installation was successful and I'm up and running.
