Mac Mini MokListRT while booting USB

Post by kmorehouse » 2019/08/13 02:27:36

I have a Macmini6,2 (2012), and also a newer Macmini7,1 (2014), that I am trying to install CentOS on.
I have the latest CentOS-7.2.1810 ISO file downloaded.

On the older box, I am running Ubuntu 18.04 which installed without any issues whatsoever, and I am using it to create my USB drives with dd. (Also have tried using mkusb-nox).

I can get the iso copied to USB and have the Mac loader successfully recognize as EFI Boot. The same behavior happens on both devices once I select the USB device to boot from.

CentOS 7:
Boot is straight to screen that provides the Failed to set MokListRT: Invalid Parameter. Then shuts down after a few seconds
This happens on both devices.

I have found the posts to fix the issue on an existing system, but nothing on how to fix the ISO file.

If copying grubx64.efi to shimx64.efi works for an existing installation, how could I do this for the ISO file and would it work?

In your situation since the non-working version is on the 7.6 media, you might need to install using 7.5 media then yum update to the latest including the fixed version. Or wait for 7.7 in a few weeks...
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

@TrevorH Thank you for the reply. I will download the 7.5 media and give it a shot.

I installed successfully from the 7.5 media and anxiously updated to 7.6.1810 via yum.

It was successful. Thank you again for the clarification.
