Wake on lan switch

Post by mda » 2014/08/05 20:58:05

Hi

I've tried to configure wake on lan.
I found on net, that I have to set "wol g" with ethtool.
When I do it by hand it is working, but I want to do it automatically.

I've found that I can do it with file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg*
But when I added ETHTOOL_OPT=wol g it was not working.

Is ETHTOOL_OPT property not supported?

I've workaround it with creating bash script which is register with chkconfig and is runned on system start.

If this is a motherboard nic, you should have a BIOS setting to enable WOL.

On motherbord I've activated this option.
But network card for which I want to set WOL is in PCI slot.

Does it have its own BIOS that can be enabled at boot time with a function key?
