I upgraded to latest kernel and then I found that the wired connection is off.
in the settings says " cable unplugged" but it is not.
wired connection is fine under the old kernel.
Could anyone please share a solution.
Thank you in advance.

Hi the Kernel I talk about is

"Linux localhost.localdomain 5.1.6-1.el7.elrepo.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri May 31 11:04:58 EDT 2019 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux"

That is not a CentOS kernel. That is an upstream kernel. Many things have presumably changed in the upstream.

You are outside of what you can expect a regular CentOS user to know. Therefore, you have to provide much more information. Model of the NIC. Kernel version that functions and the driver in it. Does upstream have same driver, and at what version? Actual status of the device/interface/connection, not just GUI's unhelpful statement. Message logs (from boot) related to driver/device.

Well, as you noticed I am not a regular Linux user.
In fact I am below average.
I decided to upgrade because I thought it would be proper.
Do you suggest to delete the upstream and stay back with the old version kernel or some other?
Can you help in order to provide the info you asked for if there is a good reason to keep up with the upstream kernel?
Thanks in advance.

I would suggest sticking with the distro kernel. It gets regular updates for security problems, it works. It gets regular backports of new hardware support. There is no reason to run the latest kernel unless you need it for hardware support.
