NFSD: starting 90-second grace period (net ffffffff81ad9d40)

Post by kenjole1 » 2019/07/30 02:39:29

I have cento 7 (3.10.0-693.2.2.el7.x86_64) with a virtualbox hosting windows 8.

As I was using the windows 8, I noticed laptop suddenly got very slow that I couldn't do much any longer, I started closing applications I was using,
I managed to close all applications I was working on and exited windows 8 and virtualbox.

I rebooted the laptop and got error message:
NFSD: starting 90-second grace period (net ffffffff81ad9d40)

The boot process stops as soon as above error is displayed and wouldn't go further,
I can only turn off the laptop.

I have never seen this message before or know how NFSD is used and do not know how to fix this problem.
I searched for similar problems but nothing to point me to the right direct I can understand.

Please any help to fix this problem will be appreciated.

I am a very basic Centos 7 user and do not have any admin experience.

Thanks

That's not an error message and is really unlikely to be anything to do with the problem you have.

What happens if you interrupt the boot process at the grub menu and edit the kernel entry and append a space followed by the digit 3 to the end of the line that starts with 'linux16 ' or 'linuxefi ' then hit Ctrl-x to continue the boot? Does that drop you to a command line login prompt?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Thank you very much for your response on this issue.

I did as you instructed on your post and I got login prompt.
The full message displayed is:

CentOS Linux 7 (Core)
Kernel 3.10.0-693.2.2.el7.x86_64 on an x86_64
localhost-dcg login:

What to do from here.
Thank you.

After I got login prompt,
I tried login and I was able to login and I have command prompt
$ and #

But when I rebooted, I still got same message:
NFSD: starting 90-second grace period (net ffffffffff81ad9d40)
and boot process hangs here, wouldn't go pass here.

Thank you.
