SELinux is preventing ... error

Post by lissa374 » 2019/05/07 16:03:12

New CentOS 7.7, kernel 3.10.0-957.el7.x86_64, DVD install. Continually receive a notification which states, "SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/gdk-pixbuf-thumbnailer from using the 'nnp_transition, nosuid_transition' accesses on a process." Should I be concerned/troubleshoot? I'm a noob so I'm not sure where and how to start.

Congratulations, you're running a version of CentOS that hasn't yet been released (7.7) ;-) I presume that was a typo and you meant 7.6.

What are you doing exactly when you see these alerts?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

I think this is quite a good explanation: https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/SELinux
(Although I'm biased, because I already understand this stuff).
