In CentOS 7, we could dock applications at the bottom of a workspace. I mean there could be a Terminal tab, a Firefox tab, a Gedit tab, etc. We could click on each tab to switch among applications easily. In CentOS 9 stream, I do not see that. Rather it is Mac-like where the bottom bar is hidden. Only the active application shows in top-left beside "Activities".
So, how do we keep the bottom bar always visible? I can see that running applications are available in it though.
How to dock programs at the bottom of a workspace?
Re: How to dock programs at the bottom of a workspace?
Welcome to the joys of gnome3/4 whose developers really really want everything to be a Mac. It may be possible to get it to do what you want but most people just switch to a different desktop.
There are other desktops availabler for 9 including KDE, MATE, xfce and cinnamon, possibly others.

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Thank you TrevorH. I shall look up how to install the other desktops you mentioned.
