CentOS 8 guest on VMware doesn't offer 1920x1080 resolution

Post by AxBen » 2019/10/16 12:06:38

Just installed CentOS 8 Stream on a VMware Workstation 15.5 server. Although the host is capable of displaying resolutions above 1920x1080 - in fact I face a resolution of 1920x1200 in the guest(!) - I'm not able to choose this resolution in the CentOS device manager ("Display Settings").

Is there a way to remedy this?

ADDENDUM: Forget to mention that I'm using "Standard (Wayland)".

And no, I would prefer not to use VMware's "Free stretch" feature as this distorts the display (i.e. makes it less clear)...
