Hello, I downloaded the centos stream 9 iso and flashed a usb drive with balena. I get to the first dialog:
[install centos stream 9]
[test this media & install centos stream 9]
[troubleshooting]
...but it hangs right before the gui shows up to assign root user/pass and install location.
I used the vnc installer and i got into run level 3, but changing to run level 5 causes the same error.
i've tried three separate dell machines and run into this problem.
I am currently using a dell optiplex E93839 motherboard, with a xeon E3-1270 v5 and 2x8gb ddr4
xserver bug in centos stream 9 iso installer
Re: xserver bug in centos stream 9 iso installer
Did you create a checksum and see if it's correct?
There are iso2usb tools that doesn't work correctly,
balena is not mentioned here:

Did you try text mode install? (IIRC, it is in [troubleshooting] menu.)
None of those is GPU? GPU is relevant on graphic issues.chip121422 wrote: ↑2023/07/30 23:50:56I am currently using a dell optiplex E93839 motherboard, with a xeon E3-1270 v5 and 2x8gb ddr4
That is good practice pre-flash, but there is also that [test this media & install centos stream 9] that I presume to checksum something, if chosen.

If you use the vnc option then you can also append 'text' and not have it start the GUI at all.I used the vnc installer and i got into run level 3, but changing to run level 5 causes the same error.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
