Samba 4.5 and newer

Post by dawne » 2019/05/10 21:04:11

Hello.
Quick question.

I have customer running Centos 6.10, and is looking for a newer version of Samba. (> 4.5)
I did not see any newer versions of Samba in the CentOS mirror repository, only saw the version 4.2.10 in the os repo. Is this something I need to retrieve myself directly from samba.org?

Thank you.

CentOS 6 only has samba 3. CentOS 7 has a version of samba 4 but I think it lacks functionality.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
