Can the rhnsd service be stopped without breaking something else?
The yum repositories are local and do not contact redhat or any public centos repositories for updates
Will it cause any issues contacting a local Spacewalk server if rhnsd is disabled?
Thanks,
Can rhnsd service be safely stopped?
Re: Can rhnsd service be safely stopped?
Sorry, I should have noted that this is a centos 6 system.
But, while I'm at it, does it apply to centos 7 as well?

Re: Can rhnsd service be safely stopped?
AFAIK rhnsd is not needed per se.
Re: Can rhnsd service be safely stopped?
Though it is if you are using Spacewalk.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: Can rhnsd service be safely stopped?
I went to try disabling it on a machine to test and see what would happen, and gave a message like "Stopping Spacewalk Daemon".
That would be a show stopper, so no go - gotta tell them "can't do it"
Thanks for the inputs.
